Lindsay Lohan has been accused of spitting in a person's face following a 'racist' tirade.

According to reports, the incident happened when Lindsay and her sister Ali visited Vbar in Greenwich Village, New York.

The actress - famed for films such as Mean Girls - allegedly spent 20 minutes in the toilet with her sister before a member of staff asked them to leave.

A source told The New York Post that she then started hurling racist abuse at the man, who is originally from West Africa, and asked: "Are you from Ghana?"

Another source told Radar Online Lindsay said: "This is New York. You're not from here."

The source continued: "What stunned everyone is when she was talking to him in a mock African accent and she kept asking him if he was from Ghana. It seemed like a racist attack."

Lindsay and Ali were asked to leave the establishment and refused, and when other customers tried to intervene, Li-Lo allegedly spat in the face of one of them.

After they left a friend of theirs arrived and threatened to beat up the barman.

Another witness told Radar: "He got in his face, taking a really aggressive stance and was threatening him.

"Another person in the bar attempted to film it and then Lindsay's friend stole her phone and ran out of the bar with it.

"We then chased him and restrained him until the cops arrived. It was madness."

Four officers are believed to have then questioned the friend and asked the barman, who got a scratch on his arm in the scuffle, if he wanted to press charges.

The staff member reportedly said he just wanted Lindsay's friend to leave.

The source added: "The cops told the guy to stay off the block. They told him if he comes back they would arrest him."

We have contacted Lindsay's reps for a comment.

Following the alleged incident, Lindsay didn't stay quiet on social media.

The 29-year-old instead shared a picture of Johnny Depp, along with the quote: "Just keep moving forward and don't give a s*** about what anybody thinks.

"Do what you have to do for you."
