So I was having a convo with this sista that was talking about how its an injustice that the minimum wage isnt being made $15 dollars nationwide. So I tell her that minimum wage jobs were never made to support a family. Its there for young kids to gain job ex., and older folks looking for extra income.
She lost her shit trying to say I sound like the white folks who campaign against black folks making enough to take care of their family. So you know I had to check her, and have her use her own logic to see how stupid her current logic is.
So I asked her how much she makes. She goes that she makes over 40,000, but huries to say she earned it through college and not everyone has that option. I said i didnt ask you that, i asked you how much you made.
Then I asked how much she made to start, she said about 30,000. And then I asked how much she think it took for her job to train her to do her job correctly. She goes on to say a good bit, goes on to explain all she has to know and be aware of. And how challenging it is to stay with her metric and gain a goos sch. And a bonus.
So o said all and all, your salary was about 30,000. So lets say your training came 20,000 as far as time spent and a portion of the earned salary for the person who trained you. She said it took a aleast a good year to fully grasp her work.
So i said near $15 dollars an hour, plus a portion of the salary and time of the skilled person training you. And you think a person taking 2 weeks to learn they're job correctly should make as much now as you made after coming out of college to just start at a job that tops off at 60,000 and starts off at around 30.
And she goes, shit..2 weeks. I got trained for 2 days at McDonalds before i knew what to do. And then she goes..oh
